Public works projects:

Canyon Rim Trail Underpass (AUI, Inc.)

The detour is active on the NM 502, which allows the contractor to work on the north side of the road by installing precast concrete boxes.

Due to the amount of construction activity which includes trenching, excavation and relocation of utilities near the trailhead, parking at the trailhead and a 100 foot section of the trail near the trailhead. trail will be closed for safety reasons. AUI will transport excess materials from the project site to a site off the DP route. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to remain alert to construction personnel and equipment and to exercise caution when moving around the work area.

The project includes the extension of the 10-foot-wide hard surface trail connecting the Canyon Rim Trail terminus and the existing trailhead at Entrada Drive under the NM 502 via a reinforced concrete box structure.

ADA upgrades along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street (GM Emulsion)

Construction continues on the right shoulder eastbound on Trinity Drive from 35th Street, continuing east to Timber Ridge Road.

Hours of work are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting. Traffic signs and devices will displace vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic around the work areas.

Access to residents and businesses as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, waste collection and recycling will be maintained. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to remain alert to construction personnel and equipment and to exercise caution when crossing the work area.

North Mesa Road and Utilities Improvement Project (Casa de Oro)

TLC Plumbing and Utility continues to improve roads and public services on Alamo Road, Capulin Road, Tsankawi Street, Oro Court, Tsankawi Court, Cedro Court and Big Rock Loop South. The contractor will continue to remove and replace concrete sidewalks, driveway decks and curbs and gutters in a selected area along Capulin, Alamo and Tsankawi roads. and Cedro Ct. Caving will continue on Alamo Road. The contractor will level the surface of the roadway on Capulin Road and Tsankawi Street. Utility work will continue on Cedro Court and Big Rock Loop (south), including the installation of new gas and water lines to the residences. Hours of work are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting.

Leisure lagoon (in addition to the aquatic center)

The cycle path must be repaved; it remains closed. The sidewalk along the Aquatic Center remains closed.

Projects of the Traffic and Streets Division:

The projects listed in this section are led by the County Traffic & Streets teams. Lane closures and detours on Central Avenue at 15e street

Traffic electricians will replace traffic light heads at the intersection of Central Ave and 15e Street beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday. There will be detours and lane closures as they cross the intersection. The works will start every day at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

Sidewalk closures on Kimberly Lane

The teams will carry out concrete work at 328 and 348 Kimberly Ln. at Roche Blanche. A sidewalk closure will be put in place with detour signs for pedestrian traffic. Work will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday and end on Friday.

County-wide road strips

Teams continue their annual road marking project starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending daily at 3:30 p.m.

Meadow Lane Fog Seal Project

Teams from Traffic & Streets Division and GM Emulsion will seal the fog as part of the County Pavement Preservation Project along Meadow Lane starting Monday and will work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of the project. There will be mobile signaling operation as crews progress through Meadow Lane. Residents are asked to move vehicles from Meadow Lane during this project.

Projects outside the county:

The following updates on road construction are posted below in the interest of keeping residents informed, but are managed or led by others. Please obey all traffic laws and slow down in work areas. Please direct any questions or concerns to the project contact listed below:

Construction of the western road (LANL):

West Road is closed to through traffic until June 18 for construction and maintenance reasons. For the safety of the public, this includes cyclists and pedestrians. Instead, use West Jemez or State Road 4. Road work and roadside fire mitigation is expected to continue through July.

Bikini Atoll Walk (LANL):

Bikini Atoll Drive will be closed to through traffic and pedestrians in June. Follow deviations from drivers and pedestrians. Workers will dig trenches across the road to install a new power line for the Strategic Computing Complex (SCC).

NM502 Roundabout Project (State DOT / Star Paving)

Landscaping work on the medians and the roundabout is continuing. Slow down and be careful; watch out for workers on or near the roadway.

Construction R and M – 1010 Central Avenue, sidewalk closure

Access to the sidewalks on the north side of Central Ave from 1000 Central Ave. up to the entrance to the Bradbury Museum complex is closed to foot traffic until June 15. Pedestrian traffic is diverted on the south side of Central Ave to Knecht Street, then diverted at the intersection of Central Ave and 15e on the north side of Central Ave. Contact: Robert Sanchez 505-927-2027.

Construction R and M – 1010 Central Avenue, road closure

In addition to the sidewalk closure, a road closure continues from the intersection of Central Avenue to Knecht Street. Westbound traffic is diverted to Knecht Street to Trinity Drive. Northbound traffic on Knecht St. cannot turn left on Central. Contact: Robert Sanchez 505-927-2027.

Canyon Road, 5e Street, 6e Installation of conduits / street fibers – Road and sidewalk closures

Sons Communications continues to install new conduit and fiber Monday through Wednesday, which includes closing the Canyon Rd entrance at 5e Street and going down the west side of 5e Street on the north side of Kiva, then on the east side of 6e Street and ending in an underground hole through 6e West side street. Crews will start each day at 8:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. Contact Anita Morales at 505-410-2384.

DP Rd (Works related to Canyon Walk Apts and The Bluffs – Bethel Development)

Qualcon Builders, LLC – 120 DP Utility Infrastructure Replacement and Pavement Reconstruction

Next week, pavement reconstruction activities continue with pavement leveling and the construction of curbs and gutters. These activities will impact the DP Road from Trinity Drive to Fire Hall # 2 with road segments limited to one-lane traffic controlled by a signage system. One-lane traffic restrictions will only occur during construction hours, potentially 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Access to businesses in this sector will be maintained during these activities.
