Please slow down and exercise caution during construction work areas. Please note that the information below is based on a schedule provided by the contractors and may change due to weather or other delays.

Sherwood Boulevard and Aztec Avenue

Star Paving Company crews will continue road and drainage improvements on Sherwood Boulevard between Piedra Loop and Aztec Avenue. Sherwood will be closed to through traffic at the Aztec Avenue intersection. Sherwood residents will be required to enter and exit via Grand Canyon Drive. This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of new storms drain pipe. Traffic devices and diversion signs are in place to facilitate navigation for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work area.

Vehicle access is restricted to those residing in the immediate work area and mail delivery, emergencies services, garbage collection and recycling. For the safety of the traveling public, residents are asked not to or remove or relocate traffic control devices, signs and barricades.

North Cumbres

Star Paving crews are continuing to remove curbs and gutters, sidewalks and practice pads from the intersection of Camino Redondo and San Ildefonso south approximately 1,000 feet. Expect contractor’s personnel and equipment in the area. Please exercise caution when moving through the project Work zone.

Traffic and street projects:

The projects listed in this section are managed by staff of the County Traffic and Streets Division. Please slow down and use caution in construction work areas. Call Daniel Bléa, Acting Traffic and Street Manager for Concerns, 505.663.8206.

County-wide striping

Crews will continue to strip roads in White Rock and Los Alamos. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic is encouraged to maintain a safe distance from striping equipment to prevent their property from being sprayed with paint.

Sidewalk replacements on Navajo Road

Street crews will replace sidewalks on Navajo Road until they are complete. Work will begin each day at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 3:30 p.m. The sidewalks will be closed. Detours for pedestrian traffic will be in place. Please follow all traffic devices.

Sidewalk replacements on Loma del Escolar near Barranca Elementary

Street crews will continue to replace sidewalks in front of Barranca Elementary School until they are complete. Work will begin each day at 8 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. The sidewalks will be closed. Detours for pedestrians traffic will be in place. Please follow all traffic devices.

Projects outside the county:

The following road construction updates are posted below in an effort to keep residents informed but are managed or directed by others. Please obey all traffic devices and slow work areas.

Sidewalk closure: east side of 15th Street between Trinity Drive and Central Avenue

CableCom, LLC and 2 Men 1 Cable will dig along 15th Street between Trinity Drive and Central Avenue to replace pedestals at this location.

The sidewalk will be closed on the east side of 15th from Trinity to Central. The sidewalk will also be closed from the SE corner of the 15th and Central intersection east on Central. Detour signs will be in place.

Please follow all traffic control devices. Work will begin on June 6 and end on June 16. Teams will start work every day at 9 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.

LANL: Work in progress on Pecos Drive to Puye Road

From now until July 29, one lane from Pecos Drive to Puye Road in the Pajarito Corridor will be closed during the installation of a sidewalk. Be on the lookout for road works.
