The Disney + original will feature an intimate performance of each song in sequential order of the album – for the first and only time – from the stage of the legendary Hollywood Bowl.
(BURBANK, CA – August 24, 2021) Award-winning, chart-topping artist Billie Eilish will debut on Disney + with “Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles,” a film concert experience, which premiered on Friday September 3. The official trailer was released today.
Directed by Robert Rodriguez and Oscar winner Patrick Osborne, the special will also include animated elements, taking viewers on a dreamlike journey through Billie’s hometown, Los Angeles and its most iconic settings. “Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles” features FINNEAS, the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by musical and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel, and world-renowned Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo with orchestral arrangements by David Campbell. “Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles” was produced by Interscope Films and Darkroom Productions, in partnership with Nexus Studios and Aron Levine Productions, with Kerry Asmussen as live concert director and Pablo Berron as director photography.
Seven-time GRAMMY (R) award-winning Billie Eilish’s brand new album was written by Billie and her brother FINNEAS, who also produced the album. The album debuted at No. 1 in 19 countries and has since spent a total of three consecutive weeks in the United States. Before Eilish’s album “Happier Than Ever”, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the US as well as in 17 additional countries around the world when it was released in 2019, and was the most released album of that year. She then made history that year as the youngest artist to receive nominations and win in all major categories at the 62nd GRAMMY (R) Awards. Most recently, she won the Year Record for “Everything I Wanted” and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “No Time To Die” at this year’s 63rd GRAMMY (R) Awards .
Writer / director Robert Rodriguez directed the action films “Desperado” and “From Dusk Til Dawn”. Additional movie credits include “Sin City,” “Alita Battle Angel,” “We Can Be Heroes,” and the “Spy Kids” movies, all of which were produced at its Troublemaker Studios facility in Austin, Texas.
Patrick Osborne is an American animator, screenwriter and director. In 2014, he won the Academy (R) for Best Animated Short for ‘Feast’ for his directorial debut, and followed with the innovative short film Pearl, an Emmy (R) winner and Oscar nominated in 2017. He was animation director for ABC’s comedy series “Imaginary Mary”. Previously, Osborne was an animator for films such as “Wreck-It-Ralph” and “Bolt” from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
