Syrinthia Studer named EVP International Productions at Paramount Global

Paramount Global veteran Syrinthia Studer has joined the company’s content licensing division as Executive Vice President, International Productions.

Paramount’s new business unit will develop and produce a slate of films including international local-language productions as well as micro-budget films, of domestic or international origin, for release through limited theatrical platforms or direct-to-consumer in the world. It will focus on originals and culture-specific local-language remakes from Paramount Pictures’ extensive film library. In his new role, Studer will oversee content strategy, development and production for local language and micro-budget films, reporting to Paramount Global’s Director of Content Licensing, Dan Cohen. She will lead a team of creatives in domestic and international markets and will be based in Los Angeles.

A veteran of the industry for over 20 years, Studer most recently served as Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Films, overseeing all live and feature film content for Awesomeness and Nickelodeon’s Kids & Family Studio. Productions launched under his direction included the sports family comedy, fantasy footballwith Marsai Martin, Omari Hardwick, Kelly Rowland and Rome Flynn, currently in production in Atlanta; The J-Team, starring and executive produced by JoJo Siwa; and the next honor societywith Angourie Rice and Gaten Matarazzo.

Studer was previously Executive Vice President of Global Acquisitions at Paramount Pictures, where she oversaw the global content acquisition business, acquiring films for domestic and international theatrical release and distribution across multiple platforms, including streaming and digital VOD. Among his notable acquisitions are breakout comedy Reading Club, starring Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen, which grossed $100 million at the worldwide box office; by Richard Linklater Childhood, for which it acquired home media rights through a multi-picture relationship with IFC Films; as well as many internationally distributed film festival favorites.

Previously, Studer held senior positions in strategic marketing and acquisitions at Paramount, in addition to new business development with the Loews Cineplex Entertainment movie theater chain.
