A man was shot and killed in the 1800 block of Woodland Avenue last night (May 23), just 19 days after another fatal shooting within a block.
Police do not identify the victim in Sunday night’s murder except to say he is a “Hispanic man.”
At 10:18 p.m. on Sunday, ShotSpotter – a high-tech microphone system that listens for gunshots – detected gunshots being fired in the 1800 block of Woodland Avenue.
Police rushed to the scene and found the man suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers attempted rescue measures before firefighters arrived for further treatment. The man was taken to hospital where he died.
On May 4, Christian Garcia-Torres, 25, of Redwood City, was shot in a garage in 1777 Woodland and later died in a hospital.
No arrests have been made for the murder of Garcia-Torres. And the gunman for the Sunday night murder is also at large.
Both shootings took place in part of eastern Palo Alto between Highway 101 and San Franciquito Creek where there are several apartment buildings. The location is just a few blocks from the home of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in Palo Alto.
