DAILY POST also reports that a suspected thief and two other people who pursued a suspected thief in the Asa River around the Amilegbe region in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state, were reported missing three days after the incident.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon, as the pair were chasing the thief, who then threw the stolen phone into the river and jumped into the same river and started swimming.
After some time, they were not found, which is why state fire departments were notified of the incident for rescue.
The state fire department spokesman confirmed the development.
He said: “We learned that the suspect stole the phones of these Igbo traders around the Amilegbe area and jumped into the river when we got to the bridge.
“But so far, after several hours of searching, we have not seen any of their traces, whether dead or alive,” he added.
