Jerry (Gerald Thomas) Morton August 5, 2022

Jerry (Gerald Thomas) Morton, a free riding spirit returned home to ride free August 5, 2022.

A man of mystique and intrigue who will be missed. A man with a mind that was only able to think outside the box. A man who was an entrepreneur and was always looking for the best thing to do. A man who “wouldn’t ask anyone if he couldn’t get it himself”.

Jerry liked a good classic rock song and I’m talking about the radio or a good cart band. If you were special to him, he probably had a nickname for you.

He had a passion for nature and rafting the river was a great outlet. He was a Grand Canyon river guide for many years and led a multitude of tours on many wild rivers with his then wife. He also led the first-ever exploratory rafting trip on the Niagara River.

He loved the San Juan Mountains and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to pan for gold in a little mountain creek or have funnel cake in Silverton, Colorado. A most recent quote of him said: “A bad day at Silverton is better than the best day at Aztec

The road was his home and loved to cruise. From his motorcycle rides, to trucking in his peterbuilt, to his many Chevy pickups over the years.

His pride and joy was his 1986 Suzuki Cavalcade 1400cc 112hp and his beloved CMA Affiliate and pals. He made a good road boss. He definitely found joy and Jesus there.

Always ready for adventure as long as he had coffee in hand and a full thermos to spare.

Always on the lookout for a dead skunk in the middle of the road or someone standing around the corner in Winslow, Arizona.

You can usually find it in a pocket T-shirt and a good pair of Levi’s jeans and boots.

Jerry continued to search for Jesus throughout his life to make sure the devil wouldn’t have his soul.

He always tried to be prepared and ready, thinking of everything from a camping trip to a doomsday apocalypse. An excessive thinker to the core. So much so that he was perhaps his own worst enemy. He was proud of his daughters and their families.

An interesting soul to say the least and there will never be another like him.

Calm down daddy Jerry. Until we meet again, enjoy your slow ride.
