“We each had a roast and we were sent turkey and beef. It was my first time ordering from there, I normally go there to eat but was having a lazy day. never really had a problem with them in the past.

“I was taking food off my fork and thought I would have some peas and dug in the peas and that’s where I saw it.

“I was really shocked, I had food in my mouth and spat out the food. Glad it was above and not in the middle of what I was going to eat!

“I stopped eating and spat out the food I had in my mouth and said to my boyfriend ‘I don’t eat this’, I told him to watch and my boyfriend said ‘I don’t eat it either’.

“I called them and the girl who answered the phone said to contact Uber Eats for a refund and she will let the chef know and I emailed the photos and they asked to call me.

“UberEats reimbursed me, it was £ 20.63.”

Chloe said Toby Carvery now offered her a £ 40 voucher, which asked her to collect the food so they could investigate further.

But she said: “I will never stay there again. I was going there regularly, but after that I don’t think I will ever be back.”

A spokesperson for Toby Carvery said: “We are sorry we did not deliver a meal to our usual high standards, but thank the guest for sharing their comments and we welcome the opportunity to correct this by offering a refund and investigating internally. “
