Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly broken the silence surrounding his future at the club by posting a training photo in the United kit.

The Portuguese legend, who is dedicated to maintaining his physique, wore United training shorts from last season in an Instagram post titled ‘HARD WORK’ as he prepares for another season.

He has previously revealed he is keen to leave the club after another disappointing trophyless season, but his latest message could suggest an agreement has been reached at Old Trafford for the club icon to stay.

New manager Erik ten Hag is adamant that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still in his plans for next season, saying this week: “We’re planning Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it.”

‘I look forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want to succeed together

“I spoke with him before this problem arose. I had a conversation with him and I had a good conversation. It’s between Cristiano and me.

Ronaldo is absent from the tour on compassionate grounds amid speculation over his future

Ronaldo has asked to leave United, who will play Europa League football in the coming season, if the right offer comes along and he is not on a pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia after he granted compassionate care leave for personal reasons.

Ronaldo had previously been linked with a sensational change at Premier League rivals Chelsea after announcing he wanted to leave the Red Devils.

New Blues owner Todd Boehly was open to the move, but after talks with German coach Thomas Tuchel the club have officially ended their interest in Ronaldo, with Tuchel reportedly more focused on the team than on the individual.

It is understood that French giants Paris Saint-Germain have also rejected the possibility of switching to the striker, who appears to have limited options after several of the world’s top teams walked away from his services.

In fact, the only offer he has received since his shock announcement has come from a Saudi side, who offered him the chance to end his illustrious career there.

CNN Portugal say the club will not only pay United a transfer fee of around £25m to sign Ronaldo, but will offer him a salary of around £105m per season over two years.
